Complete Guide to Celebrate LGBTQIA+ Pride in Madrid
Updated September 23, 2025
From June 25 to July 5, 2026, Madrid will once again become the world’s epicenter of diversity and LGBTQIA+ visibility. Known locally as MADO (Madrid Orgullo), Pride combines activism, culture, music, and celebration in a unique event that attracts millions of visitors. If you’re planning to travel to Madrid, this is the perfect guide to start with.
History and Evolution of Pride in Madrid
The origins go back to 1978, when around 7,000 people marched along Gran Vía demanding equality in a country still emerging from dictatorship. In the 1980s, Chueca became a safe haven for the LGBTQ+ community. The arrival of the first parade float in 1996 gave the event a festive tone. Milestones such as the legalization of same-sex marriage in 2005, EuroPride 2007, and WorldPride 2017 established Madrid as a global reference for Pride celebrations.

From deep beats that make you lose yourself on the dance floor to anthems that have become part of the neighborhood’s collective memory, this selection is a sonic journey through the essence of Pride. Hit play, let the rhythm guide you as you plan your trip, and start celebrating before you even set foot in Madrid.
